About the Event
Introduction to Adult Learning
We have to train them?
Many of the learners in our centres have not attended training since they were in high school. For some people, this is not a fond memory. Adults learn differently and have different learning expectations than students in a high school or post-secondary learning environment. To be an effective trainer, it is important that you understand how to create training programs that allow the adult learner to be successful. We will explore the fundamentals of adult learning to help you ensure the success of all the learners in your training sessions.
Learning Objectives:
At the end of this session, you will be able to:
· Describe the principles of Adult Learning
· Explain the importance of using Adult Learning Theories when delivering training
· Describe the characteristics of adult learners
· Identify Kolb’s Learning Styles
· List the characteristics of VAK learning styles
· Explain how to incorporate learning styles into your training program
· Describe the qualities of effective trainers
· Identify your training style
· Complete a training action plan to incorporate adult learning and learning styles theory into your training program
