Building Better Supervisors


Join us for our virtual Leadership Conference May 20 to May 23!


Building Better Supervisors targets individuals who have either recently become supervisors or are targeted to become supervisors, and also serves as a great refresher for seasoned supervisors. Participants will develop an understanding of the attributes of an effective coach and processes for coaching employees to peak performance, while learning to establish performance benchmarks and the necessary supports that will help employees be clear about what is expected.


Conference Schedule:


Tuesday - May 20, 9 am to 12 noon - Qualities of an Effective Leader

Wednesday - May 21, 9 am to 12 noon - Coaching to Peak Performance

Wednesday - May 21, 1 pm to 4 pm - Effective Communication

Thursday - May 22, 9 am to 12 noon - Decision Making

Thursday - May 22, 1 pm to 4 pm - Problem Solving

Friday - May 23, 9 am to 12 noon - Facilitating Teamwork


Session Overviews:


Coaching Workers to Peak Performance

Grasp the qualities of an effective coach. Discover how to set performance standards and provide the essential support that will enable employees to thrive.


Decision Making

Assess the guidelines for assigning decision-making responsibilities and evaluate the extent to which others should participate in the decision-making process. 


Introduction to Effective Communication

Discover how to express yourself precisely and succinctly, and how to recognize the components of the communication process.


Facilitating Teamwork

Discover how to identify the traits of a team and the advantages of building unified teams. Explore the phases of team development and a three-step method for conflict resolution. 


Problem Solving

Understand how to express the significance of problem-solving skills and the application of tools and strategies to address workplace challenges.


Qualities of an Effective Supervisor

Determine the essential skills and qualities of an effective supervisor and evaluate your strengths along with areas needing improvement. 


What you will gain by attending these sessions:


  • A defined process for coaching employees to peak performance

     

  • The ability to draw on the diversity among team members to enhance results

 

  • Tools and methods to solve workplace problems

      

  • Strategies to support employees through the phases of change


  • Approaches for enhancing employee engagement


  • Increased productivity through the use of various task management techniques


You can register for each session individually or for the entire BBS program. Individuals completing the entire program will receive a certificate of recognition as well as 18 credit hours towards the MCCA Applied Management Certificate Program.
